U/S guided CVC

It is best practice now to use ultrasound to guide insertion of centrally placed catheters - in the internal jugular, subclavian and femoral veins. The indications for CVC insertion are for obtaining venous access in critically ill patients whom peripheral access cannot be obtained, or when vasopressor / inotropic therapy is indicated.
